Bedding
When someone mentions bedding, your mind might automatically go to fluffy duvets and blankets; however, bedding for horses refers to sawdust, wood chips and even wood pellets. Horses don’t typically retire to a four-poster bed at the end of the night; instead, horse bedding is primarily used to absorb moisture and urine.
We have different bedding types in our collection including Beddown Excel, Beddown Rapasorb, and Hunter Shavings as well as Equine Wood Pellets, rubber matting and Snowflake Standard.
Many of our bedding options are vacuum packed, which means you get the highest amount of shavings in each bag. Once opened, the shavings can be spread evenly onto the floor to provide a light, soft and absorbent floor.
Our hunter shavings are produced from fresh timber, which is harvested from well-managed forests and carefully kiln-dried. The best thing about our Excel products is that some will only degrade in approximately 4-8 months, which means you will be spending less time in the stable and more time with your horse.
If you have any queries or questions about the right bedding for your horse, feel free to contact us on 01945 585998, or you can email us on suzanne@smeethsaddlery.co.uk. Make sure your horse can retire to their stable with the right bedding for them.
